We all have our products that we love using, and an array of products that fit into our beauty routine. Our question is, how often do you switch up your routine and add in a new product? What about a new product in a different category? Sometimes adding in a new product can be game changing. So, we've put together a list of products that you may not be using and could add to your routine.
1. Scented Hair Mist
There’s nothing better than having nice smelling hair. You may buy a specific scented shampoo in the hopes that the aroma will linger in your hair after washing, but after the rinsing, blow drying, curling/straightening, styling, constant touching and brushing, you notice that any lingering scent has dissipated. You simply cross your fingers and hope that the reason you don’t smell it because you’ve adjusted to the scent. Other people will still smell it right?
Does this sound familiar? Well there are other ways to get beautifully scented hair that don’t involve doing second shampoo to allow the smell to really set in. (That’s how that works right?)
You do have another option though. Enter scented hair mist.
You may be thinking that you could just spritz some of your favorite perfume in your hair. Yes, you can do that but unlike perfume, a scented hair mist is meant for your hair. Many hair mists will have vitamins and ingredients that enrich your hair, and do things like protect from frizz or static, hydrate, ad shine and more! It’s not just about the smell now.
2. Hair Treatment
Ever wonder how so many Japanese women have such gorgeous shiny seemingly perfect hair? Well, being extra careful with maintenance and making sure to prevent damage like split ends is on of their hair care secrets!
So how can you prevent or treat damaged hair? A Japanese hair treatment could be an option.
Hair treatment is one of those products that once you try it you will wonder what you were doing all this time without it. Hair treatment can be used similarly to a regular conditioner, just give it around 30 seconds to a minute to soak into your wet hair before rinsing. You could also use it as a leave in treatment. With this option, you will reap more benefits.
A treatment can help with adding moisture to your hair. This is especially helpful for people who have colored or treated hair. It’s recommended to use a hair treatment after coloring or bleaching your hair to bring back in some moisture. On that same note, the moisturizing effects of hair treatment can help with overall dry or damaged hair, regardless of coloring. For hair that is extra dry, brittle, and breaking, a leave in hair treatment can add some much needed moisture and help smooth out the hair.
It’s important to note that for split ends, a treatment cannot actually repair the split end. What it can do though it smooth out the end and improve the appearance. The only sure way to get rid of a split end it to trim it off. The key to managing split ends is to use preventative measures like getting regular trims or limiting or avoiding the use of heat and styling tools, among others.
Other benefits of a hair treatment include removing buildup from the scalp and stimulating blood circulation which can result in hair growth.

4. Silicone Makeup Applicator
We all know the mighty BeautyBlender and many swear by its amazing application and the flawless finish it leaves on the skin. In recent years, makeup sponges like the BeautyBlender blew up in popularity and anyone from makeup artists, to celebrities, to the average woman was using one. But what about silicone makeup “sponges”? Or silicone makeup applicators.
Unlike the makeup sponges, these applicators do not absorb the product so they are easier to clean. Ideally you should be washing your makeup brushes, sponges, or applicators at least once a week to clean out the build up of product and remove bacteria. How many people actually live by that recommendation? Our guess, not that many. In fact, according to a survey, only 61% of women clean their makeup brushes once a month, if at all.
Unlike sponges and brushes, silicone applicators can be rinsed and dried immediately so us lazy makeup wearers might be more inclined to cleaning our applicators more often. Here’s to hoping at least.
The other nice thing about the silicone applicators is they last longer. It is recommended to replace your makeup sponge once a month because they tear easily and can trap bacteria and impurities in them.
Are you a full coverage kind of girl? The silicone applicator could be a good option for you. Depending on your makeup preferences, the coverage could be a plus or a minus. Silicone applicators have been found to give more of a full coverage versus the light airy finish of a sponge, so in this regard it can really vary from person to person.
